No child’s education should end at 6th Grade. In Kagbaray Bomkapr, Sierra Leone, hundreds of children dream of continuing beyond primary school—but without proper classrooms, teachers, and resources, their futures are cut short.

With your gift, you can change that story. Together, we can build schools, empower teachers, and give every child the chance to graduate with hope and dignity

Did You Know?

Only 44% of children in Sierra Leone complete junior secondary school.

The Need

For nearly two decades, the Max & Ada Bailor Educational Foundation has provided trusted primary education in Kagbaray Bomkapr, Sierra Leone. The Primary School, established in 2005, has given hundreds of children the chance to learn, grow, and dream.

But for too many of these children, the journey ends at Grade 6. Until recently, there was no pathway to secondary education in their community. In 2022, the Foundation launched a Junior Secondary School (JSS)—a vital next step. Yet the school faces major challenges:

  • 🚸 Overcrowded classrooms with limited space for learning

  • 📚 Few resources—insufficient textbooks, lab materials, and library facilities

  • 👩‍🏫 Shortage of certified teachers and no housing to attract or retain them

  • 🏫 Incomplete infrastructure—no science labs, limited sanitation, and inadequate administrative space

  • Lack of accreditation—without upgrades, the JSS cannot qualify for government approval or funding

Why This Matters

  • Existing Success: A thriving primary school already serves Grades 1–6.

  • Next Step: The Junior Secondary School, launched in 2022/23, lacks the infrastructure and accreditation needed for long-term sustainability.

  • The Challenge: Without upgrades—classrooms, labs, housing, resources—the school cannot qualify for government support.
